It’s Christmas! – 18 Original Christmas Hits – Music Monday #3

Welcome to post one of Blogmas 2014! Today I thought since it’s Monday and I recently started a series called Music Mondays (click here to read more about that) I’d do a special edition of Music Mondays where I give you a look at some of the Christmas records that I have! πŸ™‚

Today I’m going to be showing you my absolute favourite christmas album and that is β€œIt’s Christmas! 18 Original Christmas Hits” its a fantastic compilation that was released in 1989 by EMI Records!

Let’s take a look at the track list:

Side 1:

  • John & Yoko / The Plastic Ono Band – Happy Xmas (War Is Over)

  • Band Aid – Do They Know It’s Christmas

  • Roy Wood with Wizzard – I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday!

  • Slade – Merry Xmas Everybody

  • Elton John – Step Into Christmas

  • Shakin’ Stevens – Merry Christmas Everyone

  • Paul McCartney – Wonderful Christmastime

  • Greg Lake – I Believe In Father Christmas

  • Kate Bush – December Will Be Magic Again

Side 2:

  • Cliff Richard – Mistletoe & Wine

  • Aled Jones – Walking In The Air

  • Chris De Burgh – A Spaceman Came Travelling

  • Jona Lewie – Stop The Cavalry

  • The Beach Boys – Little Saint Nick

  • Brenda Lee – Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree

  • MUD – Lonely This Christmas

  • Nat King Cole – The Christmas Song

  • Bing Crosby – White Christmas

My favourite side is definitely side 1 I LOVE every song on that side! My favourite tracks on Side 2 are: Jona Lewie – Stop The Cavalry, Brenda Lee – Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree, Nat King Cole – The Christmas Song and Bing Crosby – White Christmas!

Whenever I’m struggling to get into the festive spirit all I have to do is listen to this and my festive spirit instantly returns! It’s a great album full of some absolute christmas crackers! (get it?..)

I’d just like to point out to the younger members of my readers that the Band Aid song on this album is the original and best version of this song! You’ll never beat the original so I don’t actually understand why they keep trying to, I think it would be better to write a new charity song and leave this masterpiece well alone.. but that’s just me!

Anyway it seemed fitting to start Blogmas off with this album because like I said it gets me in the Christmas spirit every time I hear it!

What’s your favourite song off this album? Comment down below or tweet me @MissCharlotteEm and let me know and if your favourite song isn’t on this album then tell me what it is anyway! πŸ™‚

That’s all for Day One of Blogmas! Come back tomorrow for Blogmas Day Two when I’ll hopefully be spreading some more christmas cheer! πŸ™‚

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Charlotte xo
