My Awesome Minecraft Quarry Set Up! #Tekkit 2

Hey!

Welcome to Week Two of my new Tekkit series! If you’re wondering why I’ve decided to start this series then please click here to read the post that explains it all!

If you don’t know, Tekkit is a Minecraft Modpack that allows you to do awesome things that makes Minecraft twice as fun to play!

As I mentioned in my last post Jim & I recently started playing on a new server so we’re still setting things up!

I’ve been super busy over the last few days with our quarry! If you read my last post you’ll know that I said I was going to set my quarry up on one of the sand dunes you can see from my house and well that’s exactly what I did! (If you haven’t read that post please click here to do so).

I squared the sand dune off first and flattened it then I built a little hut, planted some trees so that I could make charcoal to fuel my engines and then I started quarrying!

It’s my plan to quarry right round the island and then go along the dirt path that I laid which leads over to the other sand dune. The reason I chose to quarry on an island at sea and not directly near my house is because I don’t want to be left with massive holes all around my house. At sea once the quarry is done I take it down and you’d never know it had been there!

The reason I’m only using one quarry too is because they’re expensive to make and I don’t have the resources to make another yet. Quarry blocks are reusable so it doesn’t matter. So far I’ve ran the quarry 5 times, I’ve done half of the island but as of yet we’ve found no diamonds!

Let me show you my set up. (I’ll put links to all of the recipes at the bottom.)

So this is the quarry, it’s powered by two steam engines, you can use more engines if you want but I don’t see the point personally.

I have cobblestone transportation pipes that carry the quarried blocks into my house, I know the cable looks unsightly and long but I’ve just been adding to it every time I moved my quarry because I didn’t want to disrupt the set up inside.

Once the blocks are inside they get sorted through my diamond pipe and sent to the relevant chests.

The awesome thing about Tekkit is that every block has a use, so every single block I quarry gets used. I make scrap with cobblestone, gravel, dirt and sandstone. I use marble for building, I make glass with the sand, and obviously the gems I mine are used for tools, machines and armour.

With ore (Iron ore, Copper ore, Tin ore, Silver ore, Gold ore etc.) I put it in my macerator and it doubles the quantity, so for every one block of ore I get 2 dust which I can then smelt into 2 ingots.

I’ll show you all my machines next week, I was going to do it this week but I’ve been having so much fun with my quarry I had to tell you all about it!

Each quarry takes about 2.5 hours to complete if you leave it running continually. I split everything with Jim when it’s done but even after it’s been halved there’s still more gems than I’d find if I spent twice that time mining myself.

I’ve been having so much fun with though, I love organising it all and macerating the stuff after each quarry is finished, I probably sound incredibly sad but I enjoy it so I’m not bothered haha.

Eventually I’m going to experiment with teleportation pipes to get my blocks from the quarry to the chests but I’m happy with what I’ve got for now!

I think I’ve rambled on for long enough now…
