If you’d prefer to listen to the audio version of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die then you can do so by using the SoundCloud Player at the bottom of the post or by subscribing on iTunes here!

This post is just a quick introduction to my 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die series based on the book of the same name by Robert Dimery!

The idea for the series came about when I bought the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die book and realised that I had a lot of opinions about the albums in the book, there are albums I’m happy have been included, albums I don’t understand why they’ve been included and albums that I think SHOULD have been included in the book. I decided that it would be fun to go through the book with you all and share my opinions and get your opinions too!

If you’re not familiar with the book it basically lists as the title suggests 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die, it starts in the 1950s and the book I have ends in 2013.
It has been edited by Robert Dimery but there are around 100 contributors for this book, a selection of Music Journalists and industry professionals from across the globe!

This series will be on my blog every Tuesday and Thursday and the way I’m going to run the series is as follows:

  • Every Tuesday & Thursday I’m going to write about two albums from the book (if I did one a day it would take me 9 years to finish the blog series so at least doing 4 albums a week it’ll only take me 4.8 years which I guess isn’t too bad haha?)
  • Every Tuesday & Thursday I’m going to take one album from the front of the book starting in the 1950s and one album from the back of the book starting in 2013! Eventually I will meet in the middle of the book! There will be a separate post for each album so that you only have to read about the ones that you want!
  • If I stumble across somebody who I think should have other albums in the book, then I’ll list those albums in an additional blog post once I’ve written about all of the albums that person does have included in the book.
  • At the end of every era I’ll do a run-down of albums from that era that I think should have been included, these albums will be from people who haven’t been included in the book.
